Francois Labet visit’s The Wine Merchant in Beverly Hills.

Monsieur Francois Labet owner of The Château de La Tour. The largest, and one of the most important producers in Clos Vougeot. The domaine itself is located right in the vineyard, on the northern side of the Clos Vougeot and just down slope from the fabled, sixteenth century Château de Clos Vougeot (completed on the original site of the twelfth century cellars of the Cistercian monks). The Château de La Tour itself dates from the 1890s, with holdings of six hectares of old vines in Clos Vougeot, from which they make both a Clos Vougeot and a Vieilles Vignes bottling (the latter hailing from vines averaging 95 + years of age). The wines have been described as having an elegant bouquet and flavours of “truffles, liquorice, violet and wild mint” which develop harmoniously with age.
